Lee,

I have been running E85 for a while now, in the 08 zx10 I bought (your old one), my 2011 and both 2012zx14Rs. It's the best bang for the buck as to performance vs pump fuel. I saw about 4 to 5 hp depending on the day and tune... it should equate to about 2 mph difference.. maybe more depending on track conditions. Where is this Thorton's... On your side of town? I will be back in a few years and hopefully they will still be around. The closest I have found is in Orlando.

Eastbay and Starkey Road and one by my house is on Tyron and 38 st ..

Just to add a tid-bit here...
Just like "pump gas"...the additives in E85 are changed per-season and the % of Ethanol isn't ever consistent...
If you buy cans of E85-R or C85-R (Sunoco, VP) the % of Eth. and additives are always consistent and it will still be cheaper to run than "Race Gas"...

I recommend running a Top Lube and or STA-BIL with E/C85 to make sure corrosion in the Fuel System and engine is never an issue...
Todd in Orlando has been running E/C 85-R (Sunoco, VP) in his 7-second Turbo Busa Dragbike for quite some time now with my Tune in his Holley Dominator EFI...
Todd runs both Top Lube and STA-BIL (for Ethanol) and has had "zero issues" with the Fuel System or Top End...

He did however unfortunately break a Cam Chain at the BMP Cup Race  but because of that we got to see what the internals looked like after a few months of
running Race Gas and then over a year of running on E/C 85-R...
Talk about CLEAN!!!

After over a year of doing Todd's Tuning...I got to RIDE the bike :vroom:
It had been years since I rode a wheelie bar bike so that made it EXTRA FUN!!!
Winning the race didn't hurt either..Bah HA!!!
BTW...I am a Kawasaki LOVER so don't flame me for the Bbusa vid :fishslap:

I had my 2011 ZX10 dyno'd today on 89 pump gas (which is with 10% ethanol here in Chicagoland), then C85 from VP. Here is the graph. Picked up 6.5hp in the midrange, and 5hp peak.

Thanks Lee. Hitting the track on Sunday to see e.t. and MPH benefits.

I wasn't able to make a fair comparison. DA was 2195, and I believe the clutch has finally called it quits after three months of abuse. I did however make the best 60ft I have had yet, (1.45), and best et of 9.16, but I cannot confirm that it was due to the fuel and tune. I was down about 5mph from what it trapped before on pump. (Only trapped 147 today) I'm hoping to get back out next weekend.

I think I'll be doing a Flash Tune on a Orlando based ZX14 after the owner gets his Interface :)
I plan on getting the Interface and Bench Adapter (plugs into ECU rather than needing Harness adapter) myself when money permits
so anyone close enough to the Gainesville FL. area that wants/needs ECU Flashing on their 14 please keep an eye out for me posting that I got/have the Interface ;)

I would also be willing to trade a Custom Tune for someone that is willing to buy me the Interface :)
I have never seen a Map/Tune bought "far from home" that can't be improved for THE bike it is loaded into...

Finally got my bike tuned by Guhl Don is really a good guy. I am totally happy with results. I don't think I have ever been this excited for riding season to start. Having Guhl flash my ECU is the best mod I have done to my bike. :vroom:

I have done no more testing with it .. I don't think I'm going to either ... To little bang for the extra work .. Cheaper to add a 30 shot .. The bike on E85 seems to have more mid range but fell flat up top .. No Et gains that I could see ..Wee has had some luck with it using it in the summer heat and that seems to be what everybody tells me the E85 does best ..

I played with mine on E85 on my dyno yesterday. I picked up 4hp but the bigger gain was in the running temp. My bikes allways ran hotter than I prefer often in the high 190s on the hiway. I never seen above mid 170s on the dyno yesterday and the day before I made a pump gas map and the bike was running 200ish.

I am going to set it up so I have my E85 tune on the full power setting and my gasoline map on low power in case I'm ever in need and out of range of an e85 pump.

I was suprised to see it didn't like more Timing on e85 than gas.

up 7hp today from stock gasoline . bike runs hotter on the street than on the dyno but didn't get to go out on the hiway and see how it does at steady speed either . gas mileage suffers considerable for sure .

one thing to remember this is all with stock exhaust and everything . this bikes never had a wrench to it besides lowering links . hp with 200 miles was 184.4 , today at 980 miles on e85 it made 191.8hp/111.8tq .

weather permitting ill put another tank of e85 through it just normal street riding before I decide if I like it or not .

Im betting it would really respond to some headwork on this fuel !

Interesting. A few years ago Brock and Guhl were on the Shell 89 non-ethanol ban wagon. I use the Shell non-ethanol bran in my 14 and my lawmowers and scooters and they have never run better...
