Does anyone run the front strap all the time? I put mine on and compressed about 3/4" to leave travel and thought about riding street with this setup. when I hit the track I just cinch it down tight and away I go. Positives? Negatives? I do like to hit the twisties if this matters.

Wouldn't have any tension on it. I leave mine on all the time but it has about 1/2 an inch of slack in it. Having tension from what I've seen causes the tires to get knots and bad wear patterns since it's tighter on one side than the other. You can't make it even since the pull side has more tension than the side being pulled

Forks need to extend in some road imperfections and having the strap under tension will cause problems. A guy I rode with went down in a corner for likely this reason. I usually leave mine with slack but lately I just remove it when not going to the track.

Do you have any issues running slack? Flapping in the wind? Are you taping up the loose edge?

I have the pull end of the strap zip tied to my fork. I have had the buckle contact the radiator on my old 12r while the strap was to loose.

Having the strap under tension on the street can also cause steering head bearing issues. My strap has been on for three years and 18,000 miles with no issues. I only cinch it down on the track though.

A big NO to riding on the street with tension on straps! I went down at about 150 mph because of that when I had to apply sudden brakes to avoid a vehicle that slowed in front of me. TGFL. You need all your suspension travel for road Imperfections as much as emergency manoeuvres.

Do not ride your bike on the street with the strap tight. I put the same strap on my 14 that I had on my 10 for years on that I just loosen when I ride the street and it hasn't ever cause a problem. Restricting your suspension from working like it should on the street is just asking for something bad to happen.
