Thanks for the heads up! Yesterday I managed to put 100 miles on the new bike and I changed the oil while the engine was still nice and hot. It looked like gold metallic paint!! There was a LOT of suspended aluminum and brass and I found one tiny steel sliver. I'll change it again at 500 miles...If not sooner. If I hadn't read about this I would've been very scared! Nice to know this is "normal". BTW, I also bought the full five year warranty. (Zero deductable.)

An update...My 500 mile oil change was done at only 300 miles! The oil looked fairly good. Very few sparkles and no slivers of any kind. However, my transmission shifts into first with a big CLUNK. It seems to be louder.

2-13-15 got 600 miles. Did my 3rd oil change to full synthetic. Now I'll change it every 1,500 miles. I bought a case of Kawasaki filters and a ton of Golden Spectro. No particles in the oil this time. The transmission still chunks into first like a bus crash.
