After having a busa for the last two yrs,i picked up my second 12.I never liked the way the busa steered no matter how many ways I set the suspension.the 12 just handles better no questions.its also more comfy.smoother has better brakes and is stronger from 7000 up.other than built machinces the 12 has it all over the busa.must be the hype why the busa sold better.

Where to begin?

Media spin on the stock Busa going 194 (LIE)

12 saying it would be "faster" but in stock form you ain't even hitting 186 if its truely stock down to the mirrors. Remember when they sat on the ports ... rumors galore about them choked up before they came off the boat.

Harder to work on.

Weaker clutch

Trans weaker than the zx11

Less Torque

Worst aeros.

Harder to launch, especailly 00-01s.

Shorter wheelbase for the drag guys.

I still ove mine. It has its advantages (over 170 RWHP with just a full system), fantastic ram air, better handling, highly efficient engine, a little lighter, good rods, excellent cylinder head and stock cams comparatively. If you like being an underdog or under the radar, THIS is the bike. People don't even know about it anymore, lol.

A.

I'm a big Kawi fan, but honestly I hated the looks of the 12. Glad you're happy with yours though!

I think the 12 is very nice looking when it's slammed and has some added wheel base .. i feel that way about all bikes .. :) I would like to own one myself .. Only thing i see that some would call a weak spot is the clutch or lack of clutch size . We have Rick who drag races a zx12 and has a fix for the clutches , or a set up that works .. So the clutch problem can be over come if you know what to do ..If you are not drag racing there is no down side to this bike that i can see .. Much like a Busa big bore kits are easy as pipe .. They make tons of after market parts for the bike and you can get a zx12 at a good price these days ..

Wow thats something you dont hear much.the busa yes and the 14 maybe.the busa is definitely easier to build up,but as a streetbike it leaves a lot to be desired.its buzzy ,handles terrible, not that comfortable and the brakes suck. The majority of these bikes will never see a race track.I still like the 14 better than either one of the other two. :vroom:

It may be that it was too expensive to get it over 1300cc. Just cheaper to mod a busa. If Kawasaki have given the 14 a removable block, it mayhave dethroned Suzuki

I think the ZX12 is the best looking, most underrated sport bike ever made. I don't have mine anymore and I kick myself to this day for getting rid of it. Don't get me wrong, I love my 14, but I sure do miss my 12. I'll have another one some day though.

I liked mine but the biggest downer was a suspension set up that left you grinding fairings if you hit a hollow in a corner.

I got bored beating busa`s with my 12r...........But what I want to know is 242 cc`s 100 pounds .I ride and move my 2000 zx12r and 2012 14r damn near every day.The 14r feels like a fat hog of a motorcycle compared to the 12r. Once you take off on the 14r all is forgivin but it`s just a heavy pig that can mop up anything in it`s path...........WHY IS IT SO HEAVY.

Nowhere close to 100 pounds, stock to stock, more like half that. 12R quoted weight was "dry" and 14R weight is "wet."
Maybe Shane will be along shortly with real world weights ...........................
