I just picked up a 2000zx9r from the original owner. Its been sitting for a few years so I know it will need some work. 20000 miles. It filthy and missing something fairing screws. The only real problem I see saw far is when I put gas in the tank it comes right out of the vent tube at the back of the tank. Any ideas on that one?

The vent tube is probably cracked or has a hole in it inside the tank. When you pour gas in it goes through the crack or hole and right out the the end of the tube... The tube runs from the fill area of the tank ( top ) right through to the back of the tank ( bottom ). If you overfill your tank or spill some in the fill area , or it is full and expands in the heat in it is supposed to run down that pipe and down the rubber hose that should be there and out on to the ground.

Got the tank thing worked out, stupid me my gas container has no nozzle so gas was going right in the over flow tube. Got it running but carbs need cleaning bad. Took it for a little spin. Forgot how nice a nice is. Smooth and comfy like a mini 14

You dont want to waste your time with that, give it to me ;-).
My cousin had an '01 and I loved riding it. I'm always watching for a smoking deal on one. If I could really afford multiple bikes i would have one in a heartbeat. I'll be watching for updates, good luck!

Is that a slip-on or full system?

Cool. Rick still rocks an 2000 9r here. He's got a big bore in it. Spares here and there. For what they are they do pretty well. I consider them blackbird chasers

Well got it up and running. What a mess in the carbs. Some sort of jelly stuff that in there. Think that's what happens to ethanol when it sits for a long time. Really digging the shark header sound.
