Somebody will get a nice bike here.

http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/mcy/3564152387.html

Quote:
Up for sale is a 2000 Kawasaki ZX-12r I am posting for my uncle Bill!

Bike has 55,889KM on the speedo which is about 34,720miles

Motor was rebuilt to race specs a few thousand miles ago and had the following work done:
Stage 3 head ported by Ace Performance
WEB camshafts
Upgraded valvetrain
CP pistons +3mm (motor is a 1290cc now)
stock crank and bottomend/trans
has new clutch pack in it
Tires have about 1,000 miles on it, brakes have 75% life left.
will also include many different sprocket set ups as well
Runs about 195mph in the 9/10ths with a light rider
Has been custom tuned by myself and makes about 187hp to the wheel!
Bike has a full system with a can from ACE
ECU has been reflashed for more perofrmance and higher rpm limiter
Bike also has a nice carbon fiber front and rear fender and tank piece.

Bike has really been taken care of and never been wrecked or down, the owner takes amazing care of his bikes but now that he has a 2012 ZX-14r hes looking for some cash for upgrades.

Asking price is $5,500 o.b.o.

Sorry to say a Buell m2 was my first sport bike and it was junk so I traded it on a zx12 which I consider my first REAL sport bike!

Well i got a look at the zx12 today and it is very clean ... Problem is i can't get the gas cap off to see the inside of the tank .. It didn't sound like it had any fuel in it and that bugs me ..It could be a total rust out in the tank .. Both tires are toast ..Brakes still seem to work .. Rotors are rust free .. The bike doesn't have mark on it and the seat looks great .. Both front turn signals are hanging by the wires , the back ones are fine .. It does look to have set for four years like he said .. The bike is covered with a ton of dust ... I could not see that milage because the battery is dead .. I got him down to 1800 cash ... I'm just unsure if i should get this bike even at that price ..

What do you guys think ?

Lee,
How much time and $$ would you have to sink into it to make it something that you would like to have and ride?
My guess is that in the overall scheme of things, it might not be the best deal that you will see this year.
If you really think you can do something with it, put $1500.00 in his hand and see what happens. Money talks.
Best,
Phil

Very true Phil ... tires , battery , maybe a gas tank and a fuel system clean out ..I would think i could drop an easy grand in the bike not counting my labor ..So lets say a drop 3k total .. might sell for 3500 maybe a bit more ? Bike is pretty rare being the first year but unlike a busa resale is low .. I would like to ride it as my street bike but money is tight and may have to sell it just to make some cash .. That is why i'm on the fence on this one .. :?

Lee,
So make the low ball offer, if he takes it (he will) you have something to spend a little time working on. If he does not, you can ride Wheelie's CT-70 and save money on gas too
Best,
Phil

$1800 still sounds too high for a non running bike. Hell I only paid $1600 for my last ZRX and it ran and had a new battery. At worst case it could have motor trouble. Lot of unknown's until you hear it fire up. $1500 or less sounds better. That way if there is hidden problems you could still recover by parting it out.

I ended up buying the bike after I blew my zrx1224 that lee built. Wasn't lees fault. I rode it pretty hard.

It needed battery, brakes rebuilt, gas tank redone, fuel pump, tires, turn signals. It has 15000 on it. Started right up!! And is running great. Very happy with the 12. Just blew a fork seal yesterday. Will be adding billet basket, new clutch and springs, Brock's and a 17thooth sprocket.

I believe I will be very happy after words!!
