Here is one that I can now scratch off my bucket list. 1983 CB1100F Honda in the fast color :-)
It needs a few small things, but nothing we can't handle. It has a newly re-built head, new bottom end bearings, and many other new parts. It also has a weeping, copper head gasket and it could use some carb work.
I'm happy :bigthumb:
Very Best,
Phil

Great looking bike. I'm still hoping one day a blue and white GS1150E will follow me home like that Honda did you.

Words cannot describe how much I'd like to have that 1150. OMG. Old school with a turbo. It just doesn't get any better than that.

It was not much of a streetbike. would run hot at slow speeds. At 20lbs. of boost it was a monster. Trouble was to turn it up like that you had to take the ALt. off or it would break the end of the crank off. sorry for the thread jack!

Big-T,
I want your carbs
I do love the old bikes, they are great fun. On the other hand, there is nothing I like to ride more than my ZX14R.
I think I am going to spring for an extended warranty. Let me think, warranty $600.00 for four years more or $6000.00 +
for a turbo and a voided warranty. Not to hard for this old guy to figure out.
Very Best,
Phil

Yes Indeed Lee,
Bikes and cars both. I just fired up the CB1100F yesterday after going through the top end. It turned out that it smoked like a chimney when I first got it. It had been a father son project that I picked up from a friend. There were some interesting discoveries to be found in there. There were some very lite markings on the piston crowns, very hard to see. You know, 1,2,3,4. The issue was that those numbers did not correspond to the cylinder that they occupied :-( Then there was the cam cap installed 180 degrees off. A few stripped threads etc. So I had the cylinders honed, new rings, stripped and rebuilt the head, new Viton VG seals, and shimmed the buckets. My friend Mike Nixon rebuilt the carbs for me and that was about it so far. The good part was that I turned the key, pushed the button and it fired right up and ran very well with no more chimney effects. Oh, I also pulled the carbs on two CBX's yesterday. It was a busy day.
Phil

Nice bike phil, congrats. I bought my 4 year warranty from this guy over the phone. It was much less than 600. U have to call him.
