Congrats to Fred Giaimo who set a new Production bike record of 212.694 at Loring last weekend. I am assuming it is the bike he ran last year which is a GEN 1. The rules in this class allow any engine modifications but the bike must look completely stock from the outside. You can remove the exhaust pipe baffles but cannot enlarge the outlet holes. Previous record was 211 by a Gen 1 Busa but in only a mile. Fred used the full 1.5 mile track. This might not mean much to many but from a guy who has run this class for over 30 years it is quite an accomplishment. :bigthumb: LSL

I agree, Larry...that bike was fast!

I did take a look at it, and some things seemed a little out of place, to me...but, I am just a casual observer.

It was racing at OH for awhile, and this pic from OH is how the exhaust exit still looks...

Also, we have Racheal's 14 strapped down, by at least 2", and this bike looked lower in the front than hers?

Anyway, as you say, great speeds! And congrats to the owner/rider!!

Thanks for the pic Shane. Little hard to see but the exhaust sorta looks OK. Lowering is NOT allowed but rules on pavement are not as strict as Bonneville.
My Gen 1 is gone, had it since Dec. 06. Loved your bodywork. I miss that the most but time for smaller bikes. And a belated Happy Birthday :D

I didnt look over the bike up close, so i cant comment if the bike was legal for Loring or not, but the picture posted above sure looks like the exhaust has another exit other than just the stock holes, which in a way is technically enlarging the exit is it not?

Thanks Larry! Small bikes are fun, and we are having a lot of fun with our pair of 300 Ninja's! :)

Well now I see that the chrome area is open (The small holes are cut) so I assume that the overall exit is larger than just the center pipe. NOT Legal. The exhaust has always been the biggest restriction, we used to run very high compression to get around it. Thanks for the show and tell. LSL

I think I might have to make an appearance at the last race to apprehend that record to our camp again. I think we have a 1650 on the shelf marinating. See you then. :o

And so he did yesterday. How about 217 in the mile and 220 in the mile and a half. Remember this class requires a dead stock appearing bike at stock height, stock exhaust and foot shifting. Nice riding, building and tuning Steve. LSL
